Past Tense Rules in Hindi
Introduction - परिचय :- इस काल के वाक्य की क्रिया के अन्त में आ था, या था, ई थी, ऐ थें आदि शब्द आते हैं तथा कर्ता द्वारा किया गया कार्य भूत काल में समाप्त होना पाया जाता है।
Affermative
Formula - Subject+Verb (Second Form)+Object.
Example: कृष्ण ने कंस मारा था।
Krishna killed Kans.
Negative
Formula - Subject+did+not +Verb (First Form)+Object.
Example: तुमने खाना नहीं खाया था।
You did not eat the food.
First type - Interrogative
Formula - Did+Subject+Verb (First Form)+Object+?
Example: क्या राम ने रावण मारा था ?
Did Ram kill Ravan ?
Second type - Interrogative
Formula - Question Word+did+Subject+Verb (First Form)+Object+?
Example: कृष्ण ने कंस को कैसे मारा था ?
How did Krishna kill Kans?
Past Continuous
Introduction - परिचय :- इस काल के वाक्य की क्रिया के अन्त में रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे आदि शब्द आते हैं तथा कर्ता द्वारा किया गया कार्य भूत काल में लगातार होना पाया जाता है।
Affermative
Formula - Subject+was/were+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object.Example: तुम पतंग उड़ा रहे थे।
You were flying the kite.
Negative
Formula - Subject+was/were+not+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object.
Example: रोहन मेला नहीं जा रहा था।
Rohan was not going to fair.
First type - Interrogative
Formula - Was/were+Subject+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+?
Example: क्या व्यापारी शहर जा रहा था ?
Was merchant going to City ?
Second type - Interrogative
Formula - Question Word+was/were+Subject+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+?
Example: अंजुल बाग़ में कब टहल रहा था ?
When was Anjul walking in the garden ?
Past Perfect
Introduction - परिचय :- इस काल के वाक्य की क्रिया के अन्त में चुका था, चुकी थी, चुके थें, आदि शब्द आते हैं तथा कर्ता द्वारा किया गया कार्य भूत काल में समाप्त होना पाया जाता है।
Affermative
Formula - Subject+had+Verb (Third Form)+Object.Example: मोहन काम समाप्त कर चुका था।
Mohan had finished the work.
Negative
Formula - Subject+had+not+Verb (Third Form)+Object.
Example: वह खाना नहीं खा चुकी थी।
She had not eaten the food.
First type - Interrogative
Formula - Had+Subject+Verb (Third Form)+Object+?
Example: क्या तुम घर पहुँच चुके थे ?

Second type - Interrogative
Formula - Question Word+had+Subject+Verb (Third Form)+Object+?
Example: तुम राम लीला कब देख चुके थे ?

Time - समय :- के दो प्रकार होते हैं -
1. निश्चित समय :- दिन का नाम, महीने का नाम, समय, सन, सुबह, शाम,रात के लिये Since का उपयोग (Use) करते हैं।
2. अनिश्चित समय :- दिन की गिनती, महीने की गिनती, घण्टे के लिये For का उपयोग (Use) करते हैं।

Past Perfect Continuous
Introduction - परिचय :- इस काल के वाक्य की क्रिया के अन्त में रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे, आदि शब्द आते हैं तथा कर्ता द्वारा किया गया कार्य का समय दिया होता है।
Time - समय :- के दो प्रकार होते हैं -
1. निश्चित समय :- दिन का नाम, महीने का नाम, समय, सन, सुबह, शाम,रात के लिये Since का उपयोग (Use) करते हैं।
2. अनिश्चित समय :- दिन की गिनती, महीने की गिनती, घण्टे के लिये For का उपयोग (Use) करते हैं।
Affermative
Formula - Subject+had been+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+S/F+T.
Example: धर्म सिंह चार दिन से दफ्तर जा रहा था।
Dharam Singh had been going to office for 4. days.
Negative
Formula - Subject+had not been+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+S/F+T.
Example: रमेश दो घण्टे से हॉकी नहीं खेल रहा था।
Ramesh had not been playing the hockey for two hours.
First type - Interrogative
Formula - Had+Subject+ been+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+S/F+T+?
Example: क्या अंजुल 1999 से यहाँ रहे रहा था ?
Had Anjul been living here since 1999 ?
Second type - Interrogative
Formula - Question Word+had+Subject+ been+Verb (First Form)+ing+Object+S/F+T+?
Example: राम इस धर्मशाला में 7 बजे से क्यों ठहर रहा था ?
